SONGS Named Independent Publisher of the Year
SONGS Named Independent Publisher of the Year
On April 27, ASCAP celebrated the writers and publishers of the biggest songs in pop music. Representing eight of the most performed songs of 2015, SONGS Music Publishing was awarded Independent Publisher of the Year.

"All you writers in the room know that our songs are babies. We spend so much time raising them right, making them interesting, hoping they're going to survive once we kick them out of the house. You wouldn't trust just anyone with your music. I trust the people at SONGS Music Publishing with my music," Diplo said in his introductory remarks, "There's a reason they've got 'songs' right in their name. They were founded by music-makers, and they still care about music above all else."

Our eight honored songs:

"Can't Feel My Face" (The Weeknd)
"Earned It" (The Weeknd)
"The Hills" (The Weeknd)
"Lean On" (Diplo)
"Love Me Harder" (The Weeknd)
"Uma Thurman" (Young Wolf Hatchlings)
"Where Are Ü Now" (Diplo)
"Worth It" (Ori Kaplan)

Desiigner Tops the Hot 100
Desiigner's debut single "Panda" is officially the #1 song in America. In achieving this feat, the Bed-Stuy-born rapper becomes the first American artist to top the chart in 41 weeks, as well as the first NYC rapper to do so since Jay-Z. At age 19, he also becomes the youngest solo artist to be #1 since Lorde ruled with "Royals" in 2013.

Desiigner signed a worldwide co-publishing deal with SONGS Music Publishing in April.
